N\u00e9 en 1945 \u00e0 Jacksonville (Floride), John Betsch fait partie des grands batteurs am\u00e9ricains discrets de l’histoire du jazz. El\u00e8ve du l\u00e9gendaire  Max Roach, il joue avec John Lee Hooker pendant son adolescence et sera l’accompagnateur du saxophoniste Steve Lacy pendant 18 ans.  Il s’est produit dans le monde entier avec certains des plus grands musiciens am\u00e9ricains ( Benny Golson,Achie Sheep, dewey Redman, Mal Waldron, Abdullah Ibrahim…). John Betsch est un batteur polyvalent, tout aussi \u00e0 l’aise dans un contexte hard bop qu’avant-gardiste. Il multiplie aujourd’hui les concerts et enregistrements en France et \u00e0 l’\u00e9tranger avec le trio franco-am\u00e9ricain de Jobic Le Masson ou en compagnie des saxophonistes Steve Potts ou David Murray. Sa conception picturale de la batterie se caract\u00e9rise par une frappe s\u00e8che, une cymbale nette et un discours en constante variation.<\/p>\n

A l’occasion de sa deuxi\u00e8me venue dans nos murs, John Betsch deviendra le parrain du Jazz Club et f\u00eatera sur sc\u00e8ne son 70 \u00e8me anniversaire.<\/p>\n
